Crystal’s Pizza & Spaghetti in Irving
???? - 2013
Description — Permanently Closed
In 1972 entreprenuer and artist Bill Waugh transformed an Abilene chicken restaurant into a pizza parlour that would eventually become Crystal’s Pizza and Spaghetti.1 The Irving location opened in 1978.2
Crystal’s was a remarkable eating experience incorporating elements that would later be adopted in other food and entertainment venues: a large pizza buffet, an arcade with a token/ticket/prize system (including a “ticket eater”), rides for the little kids, and a cartoon theater where you could watch while you enjoyed your meal.3
Unfortunately, the Irving location of Crystal’s Pizza & Spaghetti closed in February 2013.3
